Elena Irina Neaga

Researcher, PhD.

 

Dr. Elena Irina Neaga is an experienced researcher within Engineering Systems of Systems Group (ESoS) of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Loughborough University, Leicestershire, United Kingdom. She has pursued in-depth research on advanced computational tools, software engineering approaches and information systems to support a wide range of applications in industry (e.g. supply chains for product development) as well as business, financial and defence sectors. Currently she is leading applied research on supply chain analysis for the programme regarding an integrated Model for Governance, Risk, and Compliance (iGRC) led by Information Governance Limited; and funded by UK government Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). She has been seconded within UK’s BAE Systems for knowledge transfer activities regarding interoperability management for large scale enterprise, supply chain networks and industrial capabilities. She is also a consultant for the foresight project on the future of the computer trading in financial markets, led by Systems Centre of Bristol University and funded by Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, UK.

Her research expertise and interests include system of systems analysis, design and development, information systems to support supply chain networks and risks management alongside the complexity and resilience of secure and interoperable information infrastructure, knowledge management strategies and analytics. The related systemic / holistic approaches have led to practical sustainable solutions enabling innovation and competitiveness of industrial large companies and SMEs as well as a number of publications such as journal papers, book chapters and conference contributions. Recently she is studying the cloud computing concepts, the benefits and concerns of applying for business, logistics and virtual supply chains.

She worked in higher education, manufacturing industry, and research consortia in Romania, United Kingdom, Canada, The Netherlands and Finland. She has contributed to the European funded research and large interdisciplinary projects funded by UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as well as international industrial collaborations with companies from North America and Europe. She is an active member of professional societies, editorial board, working groups and associations. She has taught several subjects mainly related information systems to support the production, and supply chains, data bases, mining, and knowledge management.
