Tim Cook

Director at ISIS Innovation, Board Member TT Venture and Innovation Professor at Southampton University

Tim Cook advises universities on Technology Transfer and is a non-executive director of Oxford Gene Technology. He recently retired as non-executive director of Lombard Medical Technologies plc. He has worked with Oxford University since 1997 and Cambridge since 2004 where he now advises the Board of Cambridge University’s Technology Transfer Company. He was Chairman of the Knowledge Starts Programme for University Spinouts in Sheffield, Chairman of the South Yorkshire Seed Fund Pilot Programme and has given invited lectures in the USA, Japan, Australia and many European countries. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of TT Venture – Fondamenta SGR in Italy.

Academic Training

His academic training and career reflect his “trans-cultural” approach, consisting of a degree in Physics, a doctorate in Cryogenic Engineering both at Oxford University, a Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at Oxford Polytechnic and a Diploma in Accountancy and Finance.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Fellow by Special Election at St Catherine’s College Oxford, and was Visiting Professor in Science Entrepreneurship at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School from 2006 to 2009.

Current Projects

In addition to his ongoing work in Oxford, as non executive Director of Isis Innovation, in Cambridge, as Observer for the Board of Cambridge Enterprise, and his Non-executive directorship of Oxford Gene Technology, Tim Cook advises and gives invited lectures on technology transfer, start-up companies and their contribution to economic development.
