Report: Innovation in Europe lacks 'creative destruction'

A recent report argues that European innovation policies lack the 'creative destruction', and refuse to accept that to create the optimum conditions for innovation, old ideas and methodologies must be cleared away.

'Innovation is not the same as R&D, it has become a democratic process' the report states.

Philip Whyte, one of the reports editors, states: "Policymakers, particularly in Europe, want to have their cake and eat it: they want innovation, but without the accompanying economic dislocation and social disruption."

'Innovation: How Europe can take off' was compiled by the Centre for European Reform, a British think-tank, and provides a series of academic opinions as how innovation policy can be improved.
