Innovation Stage: Technology Transfer

Objective

Technology transfer is a place for bringing innovations to market. The Summit track provides small and medium sized enterprises and other innovators with a unique opportunity to introduce and showcase prototype products and service demos. Session content addresses issues related to technology transfer as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by SME’s in ICT-enabled areas. The highlight of the Technology Transfer track is the Prototype Demonstration Competition. The overall aim of the EAI Prototype Demo Competition is:

  • to reward inventive European research and innovation projects at the prototype stage
  • to promote new products, industrial processes or services with a major contribution to innovation within the ICT field in Europe

SMEs that wish to take part in the competition are required to upload their entries at the EAI Community Portal and showcase their products in the exhibitors demo space area. The most innovative prototypes compete for SME InnovationAwardand other honorsincluding postings in EAI publications.

Organisation of the Technology Transfer Track

Session formats include Prototype Demo Spotlight presentations featuring competition finalists, announcement of SME Prototype Demo Competition Winners, as well as keynote presentations, thematic panels and workshops.

Participants:

  • Participants learn how researchers in the field are addressing certain challenges and see their products before they reach the market.

SMEs:

  • SMEs with prototype ready products increase their visibility and recognition by entering the Prototype Demonstration Competition and showcasing their entries in the exhibitors demo space at Summit.
  • SMEs have an opportunity to network with a pool of international investors, companies and other important industry players andget valuable feedback.
  • Demo videos submitted for the competition are posted on the EAI Portaland stored at the European Union Digital Library(EUDL) that is the largest Open Access library. Open Access is a new publishing model where the electronic copy of the article is made freely available with permission for sharing and redistribution. Open Access articles are known to enjoy a citation and dissemination advantage over other forms of research publication. Thus, EUDL as an open access library is accessible to millions of people.
  • Best contributions submitted to the EAI Portal and showcased by SMEs at the Summit will be recognized to receive the EAI SME InnovationAward. Furthermore, they will be featured in the EAI publication The Innovator.
