Steered by Prof. Anthony L. Brooks, EAI ArtsIT 2025 invites artists, researchers, and innovators to explore how technology transforms art and culture. Through performances, installations, paper presentations, and panel discussions, the conference fosters experimentation and dialogue across disciplines.
In an era where algorithms paint, AR sculptures dance, and immersive worlds invite new forms of presence, EAI ArtsIT 2025 emerges as a critical nexus: a space where artists and technologists, dreamers and engineers, converse, collaborate, and question how we make meaning in the digital age.
Mark your calendars: November 7-9, 2025, at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai, UAE, ArtsIT returns for its 14th edition to UAE after a big success in 2024 when the event was hosted by New York University Abu Dhabi, again the event invites a global community to probe the evolving relationships between art, technology, interactivity, and culture.
Why ArtsIT Matters - Now More Than Ever
At its core, ArtsIT is more than a conference – it’s a laboratory of ideas. It arises from a conviction: that art and technology, far from being separate domains, are deeply interwoven agents of transformation in society.
What sets ArtsIT apart
- Cross-disciplinary hybridity: Scientists, engineers, artists, designers, scholars, and cultural practitioners meet on equal footing – challenging assumptions in their disciplines and co-constructing new methods and forms.
- Topical relevance: The program embraces frontier themes – AI & big data, immersive media (VR/AR/XR), digital cultural heritage, interactive installations, games & gamification, and more.

- Global impact via scholarly dissemination: Accepted works are published via Springer in the LNICST series and indexed in major databases (Web of Science, Scopus, etc.).
- Hybrid format & accessibility: The 2025 edition offers both onsite and online participation, widening participation beyond boundaries.
In Dubai, with its blend of futuristic architectural ambition and rich cultural layers, EAI ArtsIT 2025 gains a compelling backdrop: a city that itself resonates with tension between tradition and spectacle, between rapid development and sensorial depth.
What to Expect: Threads, Highlights & Opportunities
Here’s how your days at ArtsIT might unfold – and where the magic often happens.
Themes & Sessions
You’ll find sessions (keynotes, parallel tracks, panels, demos, workshops, performances) tackling:
- AI, generative art & computational creativity
- Interactive installations & tangible interfaces
- Immersive media, VR/AR/MR, metaverses
- Digital storytelling, narrative in hybrid spaces
- Cultural heritage & preservation through technology
- Games, gamification, playful interactions
- Human-robot / human-AI interaction in artistic systems
- Sustainability, ethics & social justice through digital art
- Sound, sonification, music interfaces & audio art
- Special tracks
Performance, Demos & Exhibits
Don’t expect a purely academic affair. ArtsIT blends theory and practice: expect live installations, interactive exhibits, tech-augmented performances, demos of cutting-edge systems, and hands-on workshops.
Networking & Cross-Pollination
One of the richest returns of ArtsIT is in unexpected conversations: artists discovering new tools, engineers rethinking their user models, scholars being challenged to rethink frameworks. The social program, coffee breaks, poster sessions, and impromptu hack/dream sessions are where ideas germinate.
Publication & Recognition
Accepted full papers go to a peer-reviewed Springer volume; posters and demos also get exposure. You also become part of the growing ArtsIT community, with ongoing possibilities for collaboration, further special issues, and dialogue beyond the conference. A case of be there or be square!
How to Get Involved & Make the Most of ArtsIT
Here are practical tips if you (or your colleagues) are considering attending physically (highly recommended) as day rates are available for non-delegates:
- Choose the right track: Approximately 60 accepted papers will be presented in parallel track sessions so attendees can select which papers they wish to attend (plan via a supplied program with titles and abstracts).
- Decide on mode wisely: If you can travel, physical presence offers much richer engagement. But if not feasible, the hybrid format still allows you to participate though limited.
- Expect presentations associated with big questions: Art+Tech work that is deeply reflective – i.e. that interrogates social impact, ethics, identity, sustainability – often resonates more in this growing global community than “just another demo with cool tech.”
- Projects that design for interactivity & experience: Even a “paper” can propose or include prototypes, immersive visuals, or participatory elements. The community appreciates embodied experiences, not just descriptions.
- Allocate time for serendipity: Build in “open time” in your attendance schedule. Attend poster sessions, stroll exhibits, talk to someone outside your domain – many collaborations begin in side-chats that have led to funded international projects. NETWORK!
- Authors targeting legacy: Author/presenters publish their work via ArtsIT, and then consider: how might their prototypes, code, installations survive or evolve beyond the conference? Physical audience members are promoted to ask questions and engage with presenters in the talks, in breaks, and even post conference to learn more about the bodies of work.
