Building the Cities of Tomorrow: Innovation, Sustainability, and Smart Technology

The EAI SmartZero City Taipei International Summit 2025 gathered global experts to exchange ideas on low-carbon tech, smart cities, and sustainable development—advancing climate solutions, intelligent infrastructure, and biotech for tomorrow’s urban life.

Centered on urgent environmental challenges, the summit highlighted how emerging technologies are transforming the way cities function and grow. Key themes included renewable energy integration, energy conservation, and carbon mitigation, alongside advancements in healthcare systems, agricultural biotech, and smart mobility. Participants also explored how digital art and cultural innovation contribute to more inclusive, livable, and future-oriented urban environments.

Voices from Around the World

The summit welcomed a diverse group of speakers, with panel discussions led by Prof. Miko Ching-Ying Yu of Yuan Ze University—whose team played a pivotal role in the event’s organization—as well as researchers and professionals from across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Discussions spanned both visionary concepts and real-world applications, offering a balanced mix of theoretical insight and practical case studies.

Praised for its efficiency and warmth, the summit was hosted at the Taipei Far East Shangri-La Hotel and generously supported by the Far Eastern Memorial Foundation and other sponsors. Experiencing the Spirit of Taipei

As part of the summit’s engaging social program, participants enjoyed a curated tour that highlighted both the technological edge and cultural depth of Taipei.

Stops included the iconic Taipei 101 building and the Far Eastern Telecom Park (T Park), a center for smart infrastructure and digital innovation. A visit to Yuan Ze University gave attendees the opportunity to connect with the academic team behind the summit and experience the university’s dynamic research environment firsthand.

The tour also featured a tranquil park and temple visit, offering a reflective pause amid nature and tradition. Along the way, guests enjoyed a traditional Taiwanese lunch and live cultural performances, creating a memorable blend of local flavor and hospitality.

Bridging science, policy, and creative thinking, the summit offered a meaningful step toward building cities that are not only smarter—but more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable.
