Leadership Update: EAI’s Creative Technologies Journal Welcomes New Editor-in-Chief

Professor Matthias Wölfel has assumed the role of Editor-in-Chief of EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies, bringing his innovative expertise to guide the journal’s interdisciplinary trajectory.

Matthias Wölfel is a Professor of Intuitive and Perceptive User Interfaces at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, with an affiliation at the University of Hohenheim. His research spans interaction design, human–computer and human–computer–human interaction, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and digital culture. Recognized in 2017 as one of Germany’s top professors by UNICUM, he studied at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Carnegie Mellon University, before holding professorships in interactive media and intermedia design in Germany.

Outside academia, Prof. Wölfel leads as CEO of ColorfulBit, a Karlsruhe-based studio that integrates cutting-edge technologies. His media art contributions have appeared at prominent venues like the Venice Biennale of Architecture, and his entrepreneurial work has earned numerous innovation awards and e-learning nominations.

We are pleased to welcome Professor Wölfel as EiC of EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies, a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the European Alliance for Innovation. The journal showcases bold, interdisciplinary research at the nexus of creativity and technology—including interactive media, immersive experiences, AI-driven art and design, and novel human–technology interfaces—reflecting his leadership and vision.
